How to Search for Customers by Address Details in NetSuite?

Leverage specific address subrecord fields and custom search forms to efficiently locate customer records.

Short answer

While the 'Address' field itself isn't directly filterable, NetSuite users can utilize 'Address Label', 'City', and 'State' as available filters in customer searches. Configure these text fields with 'Contains' for keyword matching. Additionally, create preferred search forms to expose address details in results for quick lookups.

Scenario

Users often need to locate customer records based on specific address information, such as city or state. The challenge arises because the main 'Address' field is not directly available as a filter in standard customer searches, making it difficult to pinpoint records efficiently.

Solution

  1. When performing a Customer search, utilize specific address subrecord fields as available filters. 'Address Label', 'City', and 'State' can all be used as available filters.

  2. These fields are considered text fields. Configure the text field filter to use 'Contains' to search for keywords, which is particularly useful for 'Address Label'.

  3. To enhance usability for teams like Customer Support, create a preferred search form. This form can be used when searching for a customer (e.g., from the 'Customer' field on a transaction or a support case, by clicking 'search').

  4. When configuring the preferred search form, ensure that the 'Address' field is exposed in the Results tab to display relevant address details.
