How to Display Due Dates on NetSuite Bill Line Items in Saved Searches?
NetSuite users can display transaction due dates on individual line items in saved searches, even when 'Main Line = False', by implementing a targeted solution.
Short answer
While sourcing the transaction date via a formula works for header-level fields, directly sourcing the due date for line items in NetSuite saved searches (Main Line = False) does not. An effective solution involves creating a script to populate the transaction header's due date onto each line item field, ensuring visibility in your search results.
Scenario
NetSuite users frequently encounter an issue when trying to display transaction due dates on line items within saved searches. Although sourcing the transaction date ({trandate}) via a custom column field formula (validation & defaulting -> default value -> {trandate}) successfully populates the date, the same method fails for the due date ({duedate}). This problem is particularly prevalent when the saved search is configured with 'Main Line = False', preventing the due date from appearing on individual line items.
Solution
When attempting to display the due date on line items in a NetSuite saved search, direct sourcing using a formula like {duedate} does not yield results. While sourcing the transaction date using the formula below is effective for header-level display:
{trandate}For line-item specific due dates, a common and effective method involves creating a script. This script should be designed to save the due date from the transaction header onto a custom field on every line item. By populating a line-level custom field with the header's due date, the information becomes accessible and visible within saved searches, even when 'Main Line = False'.
