How to Manage Preferred Sublist Views in NetSuite for Specific Records
Learn how to ensure NetSuite sublists display their intended custom views, addressing potential inheritance issues.
Short answer
When NetSuite sublists unexpectedly inherit views from other sublists, users can manually refresh the view selection. This ensures the correct column fields are displayed, overriding any unintended view inheritance and applying the desired custom sublist configuration.
Scenario
Users may observe that a sublist, such as the Transactions sublist on a Customer record, displays the same column fields as another sublist, like Items Purchased. This occurs even when a distinct custom view has been configured and set as preferred for the Transactions sublist, leading to an unintended inheritance of view settings.
Solution
While NetSuite sublists are designed to allow individual view customization, users may occasionally encounter situations where one sublist, such as the Transactions sublist on a Customer record, appears to inherit the view settings from another, like the Items Purchased sublist, even when a specific preferred view has been set for the Transactions sublist. The expected behavior is for each sublist to display the column fields defined by its own selected view, without inheriting settings from other sublists. To address this observed behavior and ensure the correct view is applied:
Navigate to the specific record (e.g., Customer record) where the sublist view issue is occurring.
Locate the affected sublist (e.g., Transactions sublist).
In the 'View' field for that sublist, temporarily select a different view option. This action is intended to refresh the displayed column fields.
After the sublist refreshes, re-select the desired custom view that you originally intended for that specific sublist. This process should force the sublist to correctly apply its own preferred view settings.
