Why Are Default Parameter Values Not Appearing on Existing NetSuite Script Deployments?

Learn why default parameter values may not appear on existing NetSuite script deployments and how to update them.

Short answer

Default parameter values do not automatically apply to script deployments created before the default was set. To resolve this, users must manually edit each existing deployment and assign the desired parameter value. Future deployments will automatically inherit the default value.

Scenario

A user has defined a default value for a script parameter, but this default value is not appearing on script deployments that were created prior to the default being set. New deployments correctly display the default value, but existing ones do not.

Solution

The default value for a script parameter is not retroactively applied to existing deployments. To ensure that all current script deployments utilize the intended parameter value, follow these steps for each affected deployment:

  1. Navigate to the specific script deployment.

  2. Locate the "Parameters" tab within the deployment record.

  3. Edit the parameter and manually assign the desired value.

It is important to ensure that the same value is assigned across all relevant deployments. For any new deployments created after the default value has been set, the parameter will automatically be populated with that default, eliminating the need for manual entry.
