Why Do NetSuite Other Relationships Not Appear in Entity Searches?
Understand how NetSuite's 'Other Relationships' function and why they require type-specific searches for visibility, rather than general entity searches.
Short answer
NetSuite 'Other Relationships,' such as a Vendor linked to a Customer, are not displayed in general 'Entity Searches.' To locate these related records, users must perform type-specific searches, such as a 'Vendor Search' or 'Customer Search,' which will correctly retrieve the associated 'Other Relationship' records.
Scenario
When users create an 'Other Relationship' for an existing entity in NetSuite—for example, linking a Vendor record as an 'Other Relationship' to a Customer record—they may find that these related entities do not appear in standard 'Entity Searches.' This can lead to confusion regarding the visibility and searchability of these interconnected records.
Solution
NetSuite's search functionality differentiates between general 'Entity Searches' and 'type-specific searches.' Records created as 'Other Relationships' are designed to be found through their primary entity type. To locate an 'Other Relationship' record:
Navigate to the specific entity record (e.g., a Customer record).
Access the 'Other Relationship' subtab to view linked entities.
To search for the 'Other Relationship' record directly, perform a type-specific search. For instance, if a Vendor is linked as an 'Other Relationship,' conduct a 'Vendor Search' to retrieve that record. This approach ensures that all related entities are discoverable within their respective search contexts.
