How to Allow Customers to Reuse Credit Cards in NetSuite Customer Center

NetSuite administrators can configure the Credit Card Processing Profile to manage how the system handles transactions when the Credit Card Verification (CCV) code is not provided or is invalid, enabling card reuse.

Short answer

To allow customers to reuse credit cards without re-entering the CCV every time, adjust the Credit Card Verification (CSC) Rules within the Credit Card Processing Profile. This setting determines NetSuite's action when a CCV is empty or invalid, offering options to either process or cancel the transaction. While not strictly enforcing CCV enables reuse, verifying it adds a layer of fraud protection.

Scenario

Customers using the NetSuite Customer Center may encounter a requirement to re-enter their Credit Card Verification (CCV) code for every transaction, even when using a previously saved credit card. This strict enforcement can hinder the convenience of reusing stored payment methods. Organizations seek to streamline the checkout process by allowing customers to reuse credit cards without repeatedly providing the CCV.

Solution

To configure NetSuite to allow customers to reuse credit cards without requiring the Credit Card Verification (CCV) code every time, adjust the settings within the Credit Card Processing Profile.

  1. Navigate to the relevant Credit Card Processing Profile.

  2. Locate the "Credit Card Verification (CSC) Rules" section, typically found at the bottom of the form, especially for Cybersource profiles.

  3. Configure the rule to specify how NetSuite should proceed if the CCV is empty or not valid. Options generally include:Keep on processing the transactionCancel the order

  4. By selecting an option that permits processing without a strictly enforced CCV, customers can reuse their saved credit cards more easily.

  5. It is important to note that while not strictly enforcing CCV facilitates reuse, verifying it can offer protection against fraudulent transactions and potential refusal of payment by the Credit Card Company. If the CCV is strictly enforced, the customer must enter it every time.
