How to Adjust NetSuite Report Date Filters from Period to Month/Day Options
NetSuite OneWorld accounts often default to period-based reporting, but users can customize date filter flexibility through personal preferences.
Short answer
To change fixed date filters in NetSuite reports from period-based options to more flexible month and day selections, navigate to Home, then Set Preferences, select the Analytics tab, and adjust the "Reports by Period" setting. This allows for greater control over report date ranges.
Scenario
In NetSuite OneWorld accounts, report date filters are often fixed to "Period - Quarter - Year" by default. This configuration is recommended by NetSuite to prevent data inconsistencies and errors across various reports and KPI scorecards, especially when transactions are posted outside of defined accounting periods. Users may find this default limiting when more granular date filtering is required.
Solution
NetSuite recommends running all reports by period in OneWorld accounts to avoid potential data problems with KPI scorecards and transactions posted outside of posting periods. The warnings provided in the help documentation state: "Setting Analytics Preferences / Report by Period / Note: When you select Financials Only or Never, you may encounter problems with data for KPI scorecards that use accounting periods. Note: In OneWorld accounts, if you post transactions with dates outside posting periods, best practice is to run all reports by period. Select All Reports." However, if a user requires more flexible date filter options, such as "Month - Day," the default setting can be adjusted:
Navigate to Home.
Select Set Preferences.
Go to the Analytics Tab.
Locate and adjust the Reports by Period setting.
