How to Access and Utilize Unit of Measure Conversion Rates in NetSuite Item Searches?
Leverage NetSuite scripting capabilities to store Unit of Measure conversion rates directly on item records, enhancing reporting and search functionality.
Short answer
NetSuite's Unit of Measure (UoM) records are now scriptable, allowing for automated retrieval of conversion rates. A script can be developed to fetch the UoM conversion rate upon an item's save event and then write this value to a custom field on the Item record. This stored data can then be readily utilized in NetSuite searches and reports.
Scenario
Users often require the Unit of Measure (UoM) conversion rate to be available for custom searches and reports within NetSuite. Historically, direct access to this data for reporting purposes has been challenging, leading to limitations in custom analytics.
Solution
NetSuite now exposes the Unit of Measure (UoM) record to scripting, enabling a programmatic approach to make conversion rates available for searches. A script can be implemented on the Item record to perform the following actions:
Upon saving an Item record, the script fetches the relevant Unit of Measure conversion rate.
The fetched conversion rate is then written to a designated field on the Item record. This method ensures that the conversion rate is stored directly on the Item record, making it accessible for use in NetSuite searches and reports.
