How to Configure NetSuite Forms for Multiple Languages?
Learn the steps to enable and manage language-specific versions of NetSuite forms for international operations.
Short answer
To configure NetSuite forms for different languages, first set the user's default language via Home - Set Preferences. Then, customize the desired form and use the 'Translations' tab to define language-specific elements. After reverting the user's language, the system will offer options to print the form in the configured language.
Scenario
Organizations operating in multiple regions often require NetSuite forms to be available in various languages to cater to different user bases or customer locales. The challenge is to correctly configure these forms so that they display and print in the appropriate language without manual intervention for each transaction.
Solution
Set User Language Preference
A NetSuite administrator or user must first log into NetSuite and change their default language to the desired language for form creation. This is done by navigating to Home - Set Preferences.
Customize and Translate the Form
Once the user's language preference is set, navigate to the specific form that requires translation. Access the form customization options and utilize the dedicated 'Translations' tab to define and manage language-specific elements for the form. This ensures that the form's labels and fields are correctly displayed in the target language.
Revert User Language and Print
After configuring the form's translations, the user can revert their language preference to the original setting. When printing a transaction associated with this form, the system will provide options to print the form in the configured language, such as the customer's locale or another specified language.
