If auto-numbering is enabled for customer records, the auto-generated number may appear in place of or alongside the customer's name in various display fields.However, contrary to previous limitations, NetSuite now offers options to enhance customer display:
- Customer Display Options: Administrators can configure 'Customer display options' to include additional fields alongside the primary customer name in dropdown lists and search results. This allows for a more comprehensive view, such as displaying both the customer ID and name.
- Maximum Entries in Dropdowns Preference: Individual users can influence the behavior of dropdown lists through their personal preferences. Navigate to Home > Set Preferences > General subtab to adjust the 'Maximum Entries in Dropdowns' setting. This preference can help manage how large lists are presented, potentially forcing popup lists for extensive numbers of entries, which can improve usability.
