How to Delete Memorized Journal Entries in NetSuite?

Learn how to manage and remove recurring transaction templates in NetSuite to prevent future entries.

Short answer

Memorized transactions can be deleted individually via the "Enter Memorized Transactions" list. While standard searches are limited, scripting, such as Custom Mass Update scripts, provides a viable method for bulk deletion. Deleting a memorized transaction prevents future entries but does not affect already created transactions.

Scenario

Users often need to remove memorized journal entries or other recurring transactions that are no longer required. The challenge lies in efficiently locating and deleting these templates, especially when dealing with a large volume, and understanding the impact on previously generated transactions.

Solution

While direct access to memorized transactions through standard transaction searches can be challenging, scripting, particularly Custom Mass Update scripts, offers a viable method for bulk deletion of memorized transaction definitions. To delete individual memorized transactions:n

  1. Navigate to Transactions > Management > Enter Memorized Transactions > List.n

  2. Locate the specific memorized transaction template you wish to remove.n

  3. Delete the memorized transaction.

Deleting a memorized transaction removes its template, preventing future transactions from being generated. It is important to note that this action does not delete transactions that have already been created from that template.
