How to Display External Websites Within NetSuite Using Iframes?
Leverage NetSuite's customization capabilities to embed external web content, such as customer-specific SharePoint folders, directly onto entity records.
Short answer
External websites can be displayed within NetSuite by creating an Inline HTML entity field. This field utilizes an iframe HTML tag, dynamically sourcing its URL from a custom Hyperlink entity field. This method allows for embedding content like customer-specific SharePoint folders directly onto NetSuite records, enhancing data accessibility.
Scenario
Organizations often maintain external web resources, such as SharePoint sites with dedicated folders for each customer, where important files and documents are stored. Integrating these external resources directly into NetSuite can streamline workflows and provide users with immediate access to relevant information without leaving the system.
Solution
To display external websites within NetSuite using an Iframe, follow these steps:
Create a custom Hyperlink entity field on the relevant record type, such as a customer record. Name this field "sharepoint url" (e.g., custrecord_sharepoint_url). This field will store the unique URL for each record.
Create an Inline HTML entity field on the same record type. In the 'Formula' field for this Inline HTML field, enter the following formula, ensuring to replace {custrecord_sharepoint_url} with the actual ID of your custom Hyperlink field:
'<iframe src"'|| {custrecord_sharepoint_url} ||'" width"800" height"600">Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe>'This setup allows NetSuite to dynamically embed the external webpage specified in the custom Hyperlink field directly onto the NetSuite record.
