How to Enable CVV/CSC Code Processing in NetSuite for Credit Card Transactions

Learn the essential NetSuite configuration steps to activate CVV/CSC code validation for both backend credit card processing and customer webstore transactions.

Short answer

To enable CVV/CSC codes in NetSuite, first activate "Use Card Security Code for Credit Card Transactions" in Accounting Preferences under the Items/Transactions tab. For Webstore transactions, also enable "Require Authorisation for Credit Card Transactions" in Setup Website under the Shopping tab to prompt customers for the code.

Scenario

Organizations processing credit card transactions in NetSuite often require the use of Card Verification Value (CVV) or Card Security Code (CSC) for enhanced security. This includes both transactions processed directly within NetSuite and those initiated by customers through a NetSuite Webstore. Without proper configuration, the system may not prompt for or validate these crucial security codes.

Solution

To use CVV/CSC codes on credit card processing (the extra 3-4 digit code on cards), the following steps must be completed:

  1. Navigate to Accounting Preferences.

  2. Under the Items/Transactions tab, tick the checkbox for "Use Card Security Code for Credit Card Transactions".

To also ask for the code on the Webstore:

  3. Navigate to Setup Website.

  4. Under the Shopping tab, tick the checkbox for "Require Authorisation for Credit Card Transactions".
