How to Resolve EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH Error on NetSuite EFT Bill Payments?
Learn to resolve the EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH error on the EFT Bill Payments page by adjusting the 'Number of Rows List Segments' preference.
Short answer
The EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH error on the EFT Bill Payments page is caused by the 'Number of Rows List Segments' preference exceeding 500, clashing with the Electronic Bank Payments bundle's transaction limit. To resolve, adjust this preference to a number lower than 500 in either User Preferences or Company General Preferences.
Scenario
Users attempting to process Bill Payments via the EFT - Bill Payments page (Payments --> Payment Processing --> Bill Payment Processing) may encounter an error message upon selecting an A/P account from the dropdown list. The specific error observed is EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH. This issue arises because an update to the Electronic Bank Payments bundle (ID = 464729) introduced a limit of 500 transactions for suitelet scripts, and the 'Number of Rows List Segments' preference is set higher than this limit.
Solution
To resolve the EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH error, the 'Number of Rows List Segments' preference must be adjusted to a value below 500. This can be done at either the individual user level or the company-wide level.
To change the preference for an individual user:
Go to Home page > Set Preferences
Under General tab > Optimizing Netsuite section > Set ‘Number of Rows List Segments’ to a number lower than 500
Click Save
To change the preference on a company-level side:
Navigate to Setup > Company > General Preferences
Set ‘Number of Rows List Segments’ to a number lower than 500
Click Save
