How to Resolve NetSuite List View Timeout Errors for Users

NetSuite users encountering timeout errors on list views can often resolve the issue by resetting their saved view and filter preferences.

Short answer

NetSuite list view timeouts are typically caused by sticky user-specific view and filter settings. To fix, provide the user with a clean list view URL from a working login. Navigating to this URL will clear their problematic preferences, allowing them to access the list view without error.

Scenario

A NetSuite user reports experiencing a timeout error when attempting to navigate to the list view for a specific record type. This issue commonly arises because previously applied views and/or filters for that transaction type remain active for the user, causing the underlying search to exceed its processing time.

Solution

To resolve a NetSuite list view timeout error caused by sticky user preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Copy the URL for the desired list view using the default view and no filters. This can be done from a different NetSuite login where the issue is not occurring, especially if it is a Gurus login.

  2. Provide this copied URL to the affected user and instruct them to navigate to it.

  3. Once the user accesses the list view via the default URL, their previous problematic settings will be cleared, resolving the timeout error.Alternatively, if a specific custom list view is identified as the cause of the error, consider removing the "Available as List View" preference on the associated saved search.
