Why Does Employee Date Preference Override Subsidiary Setting in NetSuite?

Understand how NetSuite prioritizes user-specific date format settings over subsidiary configurations for transaction display.

Short answer

NetSuite's date format on transactions is primarily determined by the individual employee's user preferences. If a date format is configured at the subsidiary level, the employee's personal setting will take precedence and override the subsidiary's default, ensuring personalized display.

Scenario

Users may observe that transaction date formats do not align with the settings configured at the subsidiary level. This discrepancy can lead to confusion regarding which date format setting NetSuite prioritizes for display on transactions.

Solution

NetSuite's system design dictates that the Date Format displayed on transactions is derived from the individual Employee's User Preference settings. Consequently, any Date Format configured at the subsidiary level will be overridden by the specific Date Format chosen in the Employee's personal preferences. Therefore, to control the date format on transactions, the Employee's User Preference for the Date Format must be adjusted.
