Why Can’t I Create a Sales Order from an Opportunity in NetSuite?
This guide explains how to resolve errors when creating a Sales Order from an Opportunity due to missing address and tax nexus details.
Short answer
Sales Order creation from an Opportunity fails when no address is selected on the Sales Order. This prevents NetSuite from determining the correct tax nexus. To fix this, verify that the customer record includes shipping and billing addresses, then ensure an address is selected on the Sales Order form before saving.
Scenario
Users attempting to create a Sales Order directly from an Opportunity in NetSuite may encounter an error preventing the order's generation. This issue typically arises because the Sales Order form lacks a selected shipping or billing address. Consequently, the system cannot identify the applicable tax nexus, which is a required field for processing the transaction.
Solution
The error is encountered because there is no address selected on the Sales Order. Therefore, the system does not know which tax nexus it will apply on the form.
To resolve this, make sure that there is a shipping and billing address entered on the customer record.
Select the address on the Sales Order.
