Why Are Sales Orders Missing from NetSuite Sales Reports?

Sales orders may not appear on NetSuite financial reports if the associated item's Income Account is incorrectly configured to a non-Income account type.

Short answer

Sales orders may not display on NetSuite sales reports if the items on the order are linked to an Income Account with an incorrect account type. Ensure that the Income Account assigned to your items is explicitly set to the 'Income' account type. Misconfigured account types, such as 'Other Current Asset', prevent transactions from appearing on relevant financial reports.

Scenario

Users may encounter situations where sales orders, despite being created and saved, do not appear on expected NetSuite sales-related financial reports. This can lead to discrepancies in revenue reporting and make it difficult to track sales performance accurately. The issue often stems from underlying item configurations.

Solution

The primary reason sales orders may not appear on relevant sales reports is often related to the configuration of the Income Account associated with the items on the sales order. If an item's Income Account is set to an account type other than 'Income', such as 'Other Current Asset', the sales order transactions involving that item will not be reflected on sales-related financial reports. To resolve this, verify and correct the account type for the Income Account linked to your items:

  1. Navigate to the item record.

  2. Locate the 'Income Account' field.

  3. Ensure the selected account's 'Type' is explicitly set to 'Income'.Correcting the Income Account type to 'Income' will ensure that sales orders containing these items are properly displayed on NetSuite's sales reports.
