How to Enable Drill-Down Functionality for NetSuite KPI Portlet Values?
Configure a NetSuite Key Performance Indicator search to allow users to click on the displayed value and view underlying transaction details.
Short answer
To enable drill-down from a NetSuite KPI Portlet, ensure the underlying saved search is configured without any grouping and without any available filters. This setup allows the KPI Portlet to display a clickable current count value, which, when selected, navigates directly to the detailed search results, providing immediate access to the contributing records.
Scenario
Users often require the ability to investigate the specific records contributing to a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) displayed on their NetSuite dashboard. When a KPI Portlet shows a summary value, the expectation is to click on that value and be directed to the detailed list of transactions or records that comprise it. Without proper configuration, clicking the KPI value may not lead to the desired drill-down functionality, hindering immediate data exploration.
Solution
To enable drill-down functionality from a KPI Portlet to its underlying search results, the associated saved search must be configured with specific settings:
Ensure the KPI search is created without any grouping.
Configure the KPI search without any available filters. When these conditions are met, the KPI Portlet will display the current count value as a clickable link. Selecting this current value will then direct the user to the actual search results, providing a detailed drill-down into the records that constitute the KPI's displayed figure.
