Why is My NetSuite Statistical Schedule Not Posting Entries?

Troubleshoot NetSuite Statistical Schedules that are not posting journal entries.

Short answer

NetSuite Statistical Schedules may not post new journal entries if an execution for the current period is detected in the system's logs. This behavior can influence the 'next run date' and the creation of new execution records. Deleting prior execution logs can prompt the system to post new entries.

Scenario

A NetSuite Statistical Schedule that previously functioned correctly is no longer posting journal entries when it runs on its defined schedule. Users observe that the schedule executes, but no new statistical journal entries are created, leading to missing data.

Solution

When a NetSuite Statistical Schedule runs, the system checks for existing execution records within the current period. If an execution is detected, the system may determine that a new journal entry is not required for that period. This behavior can influence whether a new statistical journal entry is posted and may affect the 'next run date' setting, potentially without creating a new detailed execution log entry if no posting occurs. To resolve a Statistical Schedule not posting entries:

  1. Review Execution Logs

Navigate to the Statistical Schedule and review its associated execution logs. Identify if an execution log already exists for the current period in which the schedule is failing to post.

  2. Delete Existing Logs (If Applicable)

If an existing execution log is found for the current period, deleting this log may prompt the system to post a new statistical journal entry on the next scheduled run. This action can also influence the 'next run date' to advance and may ensure a new detailed execution log entry is recorded. For example, if an execution log existed for April and the 'next run date' was manually advanced, subsequent runs did not always record a new detailed execution log entry or post a statistical journal entry. The 'next run date' often advanced to the last day of the following period (e.g., May 31st). However, after deleting the April execution log and advancing the 'next run date', the next scheduled run did record a new detailed execution log entry and successfully posted a statistical journal entry, with the 'next run date' subsequently advancing to May 31st.
