How to Bulk Update Kit/Package Items to Display Components on Transactions
This guide outlines the process for efficiently updating multiple NetSuite Kit/Package items to ensure their components are visible on transactions using a CSV import.
Short answer
To bulk update Kit/Package items in NetSuite, create a saved search for these items, export their Internal IDs to a CSV file, and then use the CSV Import Records feature. Configure the import to update existing items, mapping the Internal ID and setting the "Display Components on Transactions" field to "Yes" for all selected items.
Scenario
NetSuite users may need to modify multiple Kit/Package items to ensure that their individual components are displayed on transactions. Manually updating each item can be time-consuming for a large number of records. This scenario requires an efficient method to apply this change across many items simultaneously.
Solution
The following steps detail how to efficiently update Kit/Package items to display their components on transactions using a CSV import:
Create a saved search that displays all items of type Kit/Package. Ensure that the Internal ID field is included in the search results.
Review the search results to confirm that only the desired items for update are present.
Export the search results as an Excel file.
From the exported file, retain only the Internal ID column.
Save the modified file as a CSV file.
In NetSuite, navigate to Setup-Import/Export-Import CSV Records.
Initiate a new import, selecting Items as the Import Type and Kit/Package Item as the Record Type.
Upload the prepared CSV file.
Check the Update option to ensure existing records are modified.
Map the Internal ID field in NetSuite to the corresponding Internal ID column from the CSV file.
Select the Display Components on Transactions field, click the edit icon (little pen), and choose Yes.
Save and run the CSV import. It is recommended to perform this process in a demo account first to verify that the updates function as expected before applying them to a production environment.
