How to Bypass NetSuite’s Auto-Calculation for Line Item Pricing
Ensure custom line item pricing applies after NetSuite's default auto-calculations.
Short answer
To bypass NetSuite's auto-calculation for line item pricing, change the trigger function for custom calculations from "On Field Change" to "Post-Sourcing." This ensures custom calculations on fields like "Sell Price" execute after NetSuite's default processes, preventing them from being overwritten and accurately reflecting business requirements.
Scenario
When custom calculations are performed on line items, such as the Sell Price, they may be overwritten by NetSuite's default auto-calculation processes. This typically occurs when the custom calculation's trigger function executes before NetSuite's system-level calculations, leading to incorrect or unintended pricing.
Solution
To ensure custom calculations on NetSuite line items, such as the Sell Price, are applied correctly and are not overwritten by the system's default auto-calculation processes, the trigger function for these custom calculations must be configured to "Post-Sourcing". When a custom calculation is set to an "On Field Change" trigger, it executes prior to NetSuite's inherent calculations, resulting in the custom value being subsequently overwritten. By changing the trigger to "Post-Sourcing", the custom calculation will execute after NetSuite's auto-calculation, thereby preserving the custom value and accurately reflecting the intended business requirement.
