How to Filter NetSuite Search Results by Multiple Custom Field Values

Enable multi-value filtering in NetSuite searches by converting a custom field to a List/Record type.

Short answer

To filter a NetSuite search by multiple values for a custom field, configure the field as a List/Record type with a defined list of values. In the search criteria, select the custom field and use the "anyOf" operator to specify the desired values from the list.

Scenario

Users often encounter situations where they need to filter NetSuite search results based on multiple specific values within a single custom field. If this custom field is currently configured as a free-form text field, direct multi-value filtering options may be limited.

Solution

To enable filtering for multiple possibilities within a single custom field in NetSuite, the custom field's configuration must be adjusted. If the custom field is currently a free-form text type, change its type to List/Record. Subsequently, create a new list and populate it with the desired values, for example, { B, X, P, C }. Once the custom field is configured as a List/Record type with defined values, it can be utilized in NetSuite searches. In the search criteria, locate the custom field and set its value to anyOf { X, B } to filter for customers matching either of those possibilities.
