How to Generate and Download the CyberSource Transaction Security Key for NetSuite
Learn the correct CyberSource portal, user role, and menu path to obtain the security key necessary for NetSuite integration, noting recent compatibility changes.
Short answer
The CyberSource security key is downloaded from the CyberSource Live/Test Business Center. Log in as a Merchant Administrator and navigate to Payment Configuration > Key Management. Select the Simple Order API key type. Be aware that new Simple Order API keys generated after February 28, 2024, require migration to the Cybersource for NetSuite SuiteApp.
Scenario
Users integrating NetSuite with CyberSource require a transaction security key to encrypt and decrypt data exchanged between the two systems. Difficulty arises in identifying the correct CyberSource portal, user role, and menu path to generate and download this essential key, especially with recent updates to key compatibility.
Solution
Access the CyberSource Live/Test Business Center.
Log in using credentials for a Merchant Administrator role, not an Account Administrator.
Navigate to Payment Configuration > Key Management.
Select the Simple Order API as the required key type.
*Important Note*: For Simple Order API .p12 keys generated after February 28, 2024, compatibility with NetSuite's legacy integration is no longer supported due to enhanced security algorithms and password requirements. Migration to the Cybersource for NetSuite SuiteApp is necessary for continued seamless payment processing.
If the 'Payment Configuration > Key Management' menu is not visible, it indicates that the current login credentials do not possess the necessary Merchant Administrator permissions. Verify the login role and obtain the correct Merchant Administrator credentials, typically held by the individual who initially set up the CyberSource account.
