How to Resolve ‘Costing Method’ Field Issues When Copying Items in NetSuite?
Correcting the 'Costing Method' field's display type on NetSuite entry forms addresses issues encountered during item duplication.
Short answer
To resolve issues with the 'Costing Method' field when copying items in NetSuite, navigate to Customization > Forms > Entry Forms. Edit the relevant Inventory Part form, locate the 'Costing Method' field on the Fields tab, and change its Display Type from 'Inline Text' to either 'Normal' or 'Disabled', then save the form.
Scenario
Users may encounter difficulties or unexpected behavior related to the 'Costing Method' field when attempting to copy existing inventory items in NetSuite. This issue often arises due to how NetSuite processes the field's display type on entry forms, leading to inconsistencies or errors during the duplication process.
Solution
To resolve issues with the 'Costing Method' field during item copying, adjust its display type on the relevant entry form.
Navigate to Customization > Forms > Entry Forms.
Locate and click the Edit link for the preferred entry form used for Inventory Part records (e.g., 'OIG _247 Sales Inventory form').
Within the form customization page, go to the Fields Tab, then the Basic Subtab.
Find the field labeled "Costing Method".
Change its Display Type from 'Inline Text' to 'Normal'.
Click Save.Alternatively, if changing the Display Type to 'Normal' does not fully resolve the issue, changing it to 'Disabled' has also been found to be an effective solution. NetSuite may not process the 'Inline Text' display type for this specific field consistently, leading to the observed behavior.
