How to Resolve Revenue Element Creation Issues for Project Revenue Rules

This typically manifests as an error preventing the creation of revenue arrangements or plans, despite project-level rules being correctly configured. The system may halt the process, indicating a conflict or inability to proceed with revenue recognition.
Solution
Identify if a revenue recognition rule named 'Project Revenue Recognition Rule' currently exists in the system. If found, rename this rule to a unique identifier, such as 'Project Revenue Recognition Rule v2', to prevent naming conflicts.
Navigate to
Financial > Other Transactions > Update Revenue Arrangements and Revenue Recognition Plansand re-process the revenue arrangements.When revenue recognition rules are defined at the project level (using ARM and Charge-Based Billing), NetSuite prioritizes these rules over item-level revenue recognition configurations. In such scenarios, NetSuite primarily considers the GL accounts specified on the item record. It is observed that when the 'Update Revenue Plan' process is executed with project revenue rules, NetSuite may generate system-defined revenue rules. If a user-created rule shares the exact name 'Project Revenue Recognition Rule' with a system-generated or expected rule, NetSuite may interpret this as a duplicate, leading to an error and halting the revenue arrangement processing.
