How to Restrict Project Task Assignees in NetSuite Employee Center?
Configure NetSuite saved searches and role permissions to limit employee visibility to only their assigned project tasks within the Employee Center.
Short answer
To restrict Project Task assignees in the Employee Center to see only their own tasks, create a saved search with "Assignee Me" criteria. Mark it as public and available for various views. Then, apply this saved search to the custom Employee Center role, ensuring the "Restricted" checkbox is enabled for all lines.
Scenario
Users accessing the Project Task portlet within the NetSuite Employee Center require a restricted view of project tasks. The goal is to ensure that employees can only see project tasks explicitly assigned to them, preventing visibility into other project tasks within the same record type.
Solution
To restrict the Assignee list of values within the Project Task portlet in the Employee Center, follow these steps:
Create a new saved search with the following criteria: Assignee Me. Ensure the following checkboxes are marked:
- Public
- Available as List View
- Available as Dashboard View
- Available as Sublist View
Navigate to the Roles tab within the saved search definition and check the corresponding checkbox for the custom Employee Center role being used.
Save the search.
Go to the custom Employee Center role definition and select the Searches tab. The newly created saved search should be listed at the line level. Check the "Restricted" checkbox for all lines associated with this search. This action restricts users assigned to this role from viewing other search results or searching for related results within the same record type.
Test the configuration in the Employee Center. Users should now only see project tasks assigned to them. When navigating into any project, the sublist should also display only the project tasks assigned to the logged-in user.
