How to Update an Existing Memorized Transaction in NetSuite
Although NetSuite's official documentation suggests recreating memorized transactions, a direct method exists to modify them without deletion.
Short answer
To update a memorized transaction in NetSuite, open the existing memorized transaction, make the necessary changes, then navigate to Actions > Memorize. Discard the warning about the transaction already being memorized, and save the memorized transaction record. This process allows for direct modification without needing to delete and recreate the entry.
Scenario
Users often need to modify the details of a memorized transaction in NetSuite, such as amounts, accounts, or schedules. While NetSuite's standard guidance suggests deleting and re-creating the memorized transaction for any changes, a more efficient method exists to directly update an existing entry.
Solution
To update an existing memorized transaction in NetSuite, follow these steps:
Access the memorized transaction that requires updates by clicking 'Enter'.
Apply the desired modifications to the transaction details, but do not save the transaction itself.
Navigate to Actions -> Memorize.
When prompted with a warning indicating the transaction is already memorized, click 'Cancel' on the pop-up.
Once the memorized transaction record loads (distinct from the transaction itself), click 'Save'.
Verify that the memorized transaction has been successfully updated by re-accessing it and confirming the changes.
