How to Update Existing Transactions After Modifying NetSuite Kit/Package Members
Understand how changes to kit or package member quantities impact previously created sales orders and learn the methods for applying these updates.
Short answer
Modifying the quantities of members within a NetSuite kit or package does not automatically update existing transactions. To apply these changes, individual transactions can be edited and saved, or for multiple sales orders, a special mass update feature can be utilized to efficiently refresh kit member definitions.
Scenario
When a NetSuite user modifies the quantity of a component within an existing kit or package, they may observe that previously created transactions, such as sales orders, do not reflect these updated quantities. This situation arises because NetSuite does not automatically propagate kit member definition changes to transactions already in the system.
Solution
Editing Kit/Package Member quantities will not automatically update existing transactions using that kit/package. To apply these changes to existing transactions, two primary methods are available:
Manual Update:
Each individual transaction must be opened, edited (even a minor change can trigger the update), and saved for the system to refresh the kit member definitions and quantities.
Mass Update (for Sales Orders):
For multiple sales orders, NetSuite offers a special mass update feature designed to efficiently update transactions with current kit member definitions. Consult NetSuite documentation or your administrator for specific steps on utilizing this mass update functionality.
