Why Are Budgets Not Displaying in NetSuite Reports?
Ensure NetSuite budget visibility by adjusting your 'Report By Period' preferences to align with accounting period-based reporting.
Short answer
Budgets in NetSuite are period-based, not date-based. To view them in reports, users must configure their NetSuite preferences. Navigate to Home > Set Preferences > Analytics, and set the 'Report By Period' preference to "All Reports" or "Financials Only." This ensures reports display data by accounting period, making budgets visible.
Scenario
Users may encounter situations where budgets do not appear in NetSuite reports. This typically occurs because NetSuite budgets are defined by accounting period, not by specific dates. If user preferences are configured to display reports by day, the period-based budget data will not be visible.
Solution
To ensure budgets are visible in NetSuite reports, users must adjust their 'Report By Period' preference. This setting dictates how report data is displayed, and budgets are tied to accounting periods rather than specific dates.
Navigate to Home > Set Preferences.
Select the 'Analytics' subtab.
Locate the 'Report By Period' preference.
Set this preference to either "All Reports" or "Financials Only".
Avoid setting 'Report By Period' to "Never", as this displays reports by day and will prevent period-based budgets from appearing.Note that the ability to view budgets regardless of this setting may vary based on NetSuite updates or specific account configurations.
