Why Can’t I Map My CSV Column in NetSuite Imports?

Learn how to prevent common CSV import mapping errors in NetSuite by correctly formatting column headers.

Short answer

To ensure successful CSV imports in NetSuite, avoid using the single quote (') character in column headers. This character prevents the column from being recognized and selected during the mapping process between your CSV file and NetSuite record properties. Always replace single quotes with alternative characters or remove them entirely for proper field mapping.

Scenario

Users attempting to import data into NetSuite via CSV encounter difficulties mapping their CSV file's columns to the corresponding record properties. Specifically, certain columns are not available for selection during the mapping step, despite being present in the uploaded CSV file.

Solution

When preparing CSV files for import into NetSuite, ensure that column headers do not contain the single quote (') character. This character interferes with NetSuite's ability to recognize and map the column to a record property. By removing or replacing the single quote, the column will become available for selection during the mapping process, allowing for a successful data import. For example: Nom d'affichage (incorrect) should be written as Nom daffichage (correct).
