How to Publish a NetSuite Dashboard to Specific Roles and Centers
Understand the necessary permissions and center type matching for successful NetSuite dashboard publication.
Short answer
To publish a NetSuite dashboard, users must be logged in with a role whose center type matches the target roles. Assigning a Global permission with full access to "Publish Dashboard" grants the necessary permission across all roles, simplifying management. However, it does not bypass the fundamental requirement for center type alignment during publication.
Scenario
A user needs to publish a NetSuite dashboard, such as a Customer Dashboard or a Custom Center Tab, to other roles within the system. The challenge lies in ensuring the publishing user has the correct permissions and is logged in with a role that can successfully distribute the dashboard to the intended audience.
Solution
To publish a dashboard other than the Home page Dashboard (e.g., a Customer Dashboard or a Custom Center Tab), the user must perform the publication from the home page while logged in with a role that has the same center type as the roles to which the dashboard is being published.Assigning a Global permission with full access to "Publish Dashboard" is a recommended practice. This permission grants the "Publish Dashboards" capability across all roles assigned to a user. However, it is crucial to understand that while global permissions streamline permission management, they do not bypass the center-type restriction for dashboard publication. The user still needs to be logged in with a role that has the same center type as the roles to which they intend to publish the dashboard. This ensures that the dashboard is published to the appropriate center.
