ANS-1406 · CUSTOM FIELDS, RECORDS & FORMS
Why is the Alt Email Field Not Visible on NetSuite Customer Records?
NetSuite's native Alt Email and Alt Phone fields are conditionally displayed based on a customer's record type, specifically for individual customers.
Short answer
NetSuite's native Alt Email and Alt Phone fields are designed to appear only on customer records configured as 'Individual'. If a customer is set as a 'Company', these fields are automatically hidden by the system, even if they are marked as displayed on the form. To make them visible, ensure the customer record type is 'Individual'.
Scenario
Users may encounter an issue where the Alt Email field, despite being configured for display with a normal display type on a NetSuite form, does not appear in the user interface. This can also manifest during CSV imports, where the Alt Email field is available for mapping but fails to populate data into the record.
Solution
The native NetSuite fields, Alt Email and Alt Phone, are designed to be displayed exclusively for customer records that are designated as 'Individual'. When a customer record is configured as a 'Company', NetSuite automatically hides both of these fields from the user interface. To ensure the Alt Email field is visible and data can be populated, verify that the customer record's 'Type' is set to 'Individual'.
