How to Manage Custom Record Permissions for Specific Roles in NetSuite?
Configure NetSuite role permissions to control user access to custom record types.
Short answer
To restrict custom record access for a NetSuite role, navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles. Edit the desired role, go to the Permissions subtab, then the Custom Record sub-tab. Locate the custom record type and assign the appropriate permission level, such as 'View', to control user access.
Scenario
A NetSuite administrator needs to control which custom record types are visible and accessible to users assigned to a particular role. The goal is to ensure that users can only interact with specific custom records relevant to their responsibilities, preventing unauthorized access or visibility to other custom record data.
Solution
To manage access to custom record types for a specific role in NetSuite, follow these steps:
Navigate to
Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.Edit the specific role for which access to a custom record type needs to be managed.
On the role record, select the
Permissionssubtab.Within the
Permissionssubtab, locate theCustom Recordsub-tab.Find the relevant custom record type and assign the desired permission level (e.g., 'View' to allow users with this role to see records of this type, or remove the permission entirely to restrict access).Users assigned to this role will have their access to the custom record type governed by the assigned permission level. For instance, if 'View' permission is granted, they will be able to see records of that custom type.
